La Plata Security Update from Superintendent John Wiggans
Dear Parents and Community,
We observed a heightened sense of security today, but the situation was not the result of a direct or eminent threat. Often, there are incidents that happen off campus and after school hours that impact the instructional day. Our responsibility is to keep all students and staff safe, and so, we took a few extra measures to maintain the greatest safety and well-being for all. By working hand in hand with local law enforcement, we have determined that there is no further cause for alarm.
In today’s world, it is challenging to keep up with many of the dangers that present themselves to our children. In the coming days, we will hold informational summits about the very real dangers present in the cyber world. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 660-332-7001.
Respectfully,
John Wiggans, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
