The American Legion Department of Missouri District 1 Meets in Shelbina
The American Legion Department of Missouri, District 1 met on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Shelbina Teachenor Post 376 at 2 pm. The Auxiliary meeting was called to order by District President, Linda Maddox. Roll call was answered by 6 Units with a total of 8 members and 1 guest present.
Missouri Department President Sheridan Mires was the guest at the meeting and gave an informative talk about her project of the “Tiny Homes” in Kansas City and St. Louis. She also talked about our District’s Impact numbers and the comparative dollar amount that correlates to our donated hours given each year.
It was noted that District 1 will donate a basket of crochet items made by Michele Burnett-Emmerich and possibly some gift cards to the Department’s “on-line auction” to be held at Convention.
Copies of the final District Narrative Reports and the Impact Numbers form had been passed on to Department and a copy was put in the minute book. Two district delegates, Victoria Ornelas and Linda Maddox, were chosen to attend and represent District 1 at the American Legion National Convention to be held in New Orleans in August.
Next District 1 meeting will be held at the Hannibal, Emmett J. Shields Post 55 on August 4, 2024 at 2 pm. Installation of officers and a memorial service for deceased Unit members will be held.
