Carolyn "Mongey" Garnett Obituary

Carolyn Lois Garnett, age 85, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Carolyn was born November 27, 1938 in Shelbyville, MO, the daughter of Frederick and Helen (Smith) Perrigo. She was united in marriage to Dwayne “Crick” Garnett on August 10, 1963 at Shelbina Baptist Church in Shelbina, MO. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2016.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Tonya Sue Ives; one son, Russell Lee Beatty, Jr; and three brothers, Jim, Harold, and Danny Perrigo.

Carolyn is survived by her one daughter, Phyllis Rainville (Dan) of Shelbina, MO; daughter-in-law, Martha Beatty of Shelbina, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Will Stoneburner of Shelbyville, MO, Trish Swain (Kevin) of Kennett, MO, Brad Beatty (Sara) of Shelbyville, MO, Brent Beatty (Savannah) of Biloxi, MS, Keith Bradshaw (Ashley) of Madison, MO, Shelly Bradshaw, Bruce Beatty, Luman Wilkerson (Angela), Kimberly Wilkerson, Charlisa Marxen (Larry), Tara Harris, Joey Parrish, and Tiffany Parrish all of Shelbina, MO; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two siblings, Lionel “Sonny” Perrigo (Liz) of Finger, TN and Irene Wester (Donald) of New London, MO.

Carolyn worked as a geriatric nurse for over 50 years. She had worked at Clarence Care Center as the Director of Nursing and at Salt River Community Care as an LPN. She made it her life’s work to take care of others. Carolyn enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and house plants, but most of all she loved getting to be “Mongey” to her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 5 pm-7 pm at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the funeral home in Shelbina. Burial will be at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery located in Jacksonville, MO following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Adair County Humane Society.
