Dennis Gordon Childs Obituary

Dennis Gordon Childs, 61, of Macon, MO, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.

Dennis was born on September 23, 1962 in Hannibal, MO, the son of Irvin and Clara Mae (Minter) Childs. He was united in marriage to Wynetta Mitchell on September 4, 1999 in Macon, MO. Dennis enjoyed listening to music, playing the sax, fishing, tinkering in his garage, playing frisbee golf and golfing.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Wynetta Childs of the home; three step children; Sylvester Mitchell of Jefferson City, MO, Jeremy Holmes and Angel of St. Louis, MO, and Kachette Holmes and Derek of Macon, MO; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Boyd Snoddy of Columbia, MO, Irvin (Vicki) Childs of Quincy, IL, Robert Childs of Fulton, MO, Randolph Snoddy of Quincy, IL, and David Childs of Fulton, MO; his sisters; Mary King of Peoria, IL, Teanna Snoddy of Peoria, IL, Michele (Jerry) Moore of Peoria, IL, Rhoda Kerr of Vandalia, MO, and Nancy Wright of Jacksonville, IL; one uncle, Willard Minter; special friends and grandchildren, Shawn and Tina Neer, Aniyah and Jayceon Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Charles “Chuck” Snoddy, John Abbey, and April Lee Abbey.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, MO. Visitation will be 12:00 pm, Wednesday, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund.
