Upcoming Safe Sitter class

The Macon County Health Department is offering a Safe Sitter class on Thursday, June 6th from 9 am – 3 pm. Students should bring a lunch and get ready for fun and education hands on learning.

Safe Sitter is a class designed for students in grades 6-8 to learn the fundamentals of babysitting and safety skills to stay home alone or with younger siblings.

They will learn:

1. Safety skills such as during power failures and weather emergencies

2. Child care skills such as diapering and managing behaviors, and learn about stages of child development

3. First aid and rescue skills, including CPR practice on a manikin

4. Life & business skills to screen jobs and discuss fees for babysitting.
