August 31, 2022

The Macon County Health Department has a few upcoming events to add to your calendar

1. COVID-19 vaccine and booster clinic – every Thursday in September. We offer COVID-19 vaccines and boosters as age appropriate for ages 6 months and up. Staying up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations can help reduce severe disease, hospitalization, and death due to COVID-19. Call for an appointment at 660-395-4711.

a. We have also started carrying the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved as a 2-dose primary series for ages 18 and up. This vaccine is developed the same way as the hepatitis B vaccine, so is a technology you may be more comfortable with.

2. Cholesterol screenings – We offer a $20 cholesterol and blood sugar screening on the first and third Thursday of each month. This can be done without a doctor’s order and is important information to help evaluate your health. We recommend you are fasting to ensure the most accurate results for this test.

3. Safe Sitter Course – September 24, 2022. This course for grades 6-8 teaches valuable skills for kids who are staying home by themselves and/or babysitting. Spots are limited and pre-registration is required, call to reserve your spot at 660-395-4711.
