Covid Update-During the week of October 13-19

During the week of October 13-19, there were 11 new cases of COVID-19. Currently, there are 13 active cases with 0 residents hospitalized. Of these 11 new cases, 2 were vaccinated, and, there were no new cases of reinfection. Of the last 679 cases, 579 were not vaccinated.

Of the 11 positive cases, 3 were under 19 years of age; 3 in their 20’s; 2 in their 30’s; 0 in their 40’s; 0 in their 50’s; 0 in their 60’s; 3 in their 70’s; 0 in their 80’s; and, 0 in their 90’s. Most of this week’s new cases are in Macon city (8 cases), Anabel (0 cases), Atlanta (1 case), Bevier (1 case), Callao (1 case), Elmer (0 cases), Ethel (0 cases), Excello (0 cases), La Plata (0 cases), and, New Cambria (0 cases).

The Macon County Health Department offers Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines weekly in their office as well as Pfizer booster doses. If planning to get a second dose of Moderna or a Pfizer booster dose, it is important to bring your vaccine card to determine eligibility and to update the record. Moderna and Pfizer booster doses are recommended for moderately to severely immunocompromised residents and a Pfizer booster is recommended for individuals over the age of 65, immunocompromised residents and residents’ high risk due to lifestyle or occupational exposure.
