by Hannah Hartung and Benjamin Nelson

MACON, MO -- Have you responded to Census 2020? The last day to take the census is October 5th. The City of Macon is urging citizens to take the census as it plays an important role in government programs, congressional districts, allocation of funding, etc. The City of Macon sent the paper the following excerpt,

"“The 2020 Census will provide a snapshot of our nation—who we are, where we live, and so much more. Responding to the 2020 Census takes less than 5 minutes, and only 70.2% have self-responded in the City of Macon and 65.5% have self-responded in the state of Missouri. Respond today using this link: https://my2020census.gov/

The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data. The results of the census also determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives, and they are used to draw congressional and state legislative districts."
