BMC Girls

 

The Bucklin-Macon County Bulldogs went on the road to battle the Brashear Lady Tigers on Tuesday evening. As the snow fell outside the two teams warmed up on the court. At the tip Savannah Jochem scored the first bucket of the game for BMC at the 6:54 mark of the first quarter. Allison Thompson answered right back for the Lady Tigers. The Bulldogs went into a full court presser defense to turn over the Tigers and then dropped into a 1-3-1 zone. The two squads battled to an 11-9 BMC lead after one quarter. The Lady Bulldogs opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer by Cheyenne Peterson. The Lady Bulldogs had Caley Jackson score four straight on her own to lead 20-15. At the half the Bulldogs lead the Tigers 21-28. To start the second half Jackson scored again for BMC followed right away by a bucket from Mandy Taylor for Brashear. The two teams battled for the ball under the basket on both sides of the court. Rachel Akins showed off her ball handling in the quarter as the Tigers tried to get the rock out of her hands. The Lady Tigers came roaring back at the end of the quarter as Mandy Taylor scored at the 1:02 mark of the third to take a 38-37 lead. BMC answered with back-to-back steals and full court layups. Allison Thompson shot a pass to Taylor for Brashear and she laid it in at the buzzer to cut the BMC lead 40-41 after the 3rd. Brashear took the lead to start the fourth on a shot by Skylar Housman. Jochem gave it right back to BMC at the free-throw line as the two teams traded the lead back and forth. With the score tied 45-45 Peterson hit a big 3-pointer for the Lady Bulldogs. Thompson answered right back with a 3-pointer of her own for Brashear. The two teams were tied at 57-57 with 45 seconds on the clock. Abi Kerby was fouled and stepped to the line for the Lady Tigers. She hit both shots to give Brashear the lead. Mandy Taylor iced the game for Brasher with a big layup to make the score 61-57. That was the final score as both teams played well in a entertaining game. For BMC- Akins scored 14, Caley Jackson 6, Jochem 20, Megan Liebhart 2, Kellen Robertson 2 and Peterson 11. For Brashear-Abigail Kerby 12, Sidney Sykes 1, Thompson 10, Taylor 18, Abby Hall 12 and Skylar Housman 8 points.
